There are no two ways about it; Clenbuterol is by far and away one of the most popular fat loss drugs used by bodybuilders, athletes, and gym-goers alike. When we say ‘drug’, we do, of course, mean a prescription drug, i.e., one that cannot be purchased over the counter and must be prescribed by a doctor (not for weight loss purposes, might we add!).
But how potent a thermogenic and fat loss agent is it? Is it really all it’s cracked up to be? And is it a safe option for weight loss? In today’s article, we’ll answer these questions and look at what weight loss results can be expected from this vastly popular fat-burning compound.
Clenbuterol: A Brief Introduction
Commonly referred to as ‘Clen’, Clenbuterol is a beta-2-agonist that is used in the medical world as a decongestant and bronchodilator. It works by dilating (widening) bronchial muscles, which, in turn, opens up the airway. Given its method of action, it is primarily prescribed to asthma sufferers in order to assist breathing and prevent asthma attacks.
At this point, you’re probably wondering, ‘so where does fat loss come into this?’. Well, Clenbuterol stimulates beta-2 receptors, which means it has both thermogenic (metabolism-increasing) and anti-catabolic (muscle preserving) effects.
How Does Clenbuterol Work For Weight Loss?
As stated above, Clen is a thermogenic stimulant, which means it increases the body’s BMR (basal metabolic rate). The combination of increased BMR and greater energy levels will result in weight loss, with studies showing that Clenbuterol has the ability to burn body fat without impacting body weight, i.e., it won’t eat away at your muscles like many other thermogenic and fat burners. So, given this evidence, it can be said that the use of Clenbuterol can help you to lose weight yet preserve muscle mass at the same time.
What are the benefits of Clenbuterol for weight loss?
Clen has several benefits for weight loss; here are a few of them:
- It can reduce body fat levels without affecting muscle mass; therefore, it can be used for cutting and recomping to great effect.
- It’s a potent compound that can induce drastic weight loss results if used correctly.
- It doesn’t need to be used for long periods to see results; in fact, even in as little as two weeks, results are visible.
If you put aside the potential side effects, it becomes apparent that Clen is an exceptionally good compound for burning fat and losing weight, with results almost guaranteed unless you don’t train hard enough and eat too much. However, if you’re using PEDs such as clean, one would hope that your training and diet are dialed into to almost perfection!
What (Weight Loss) Results Can Be Expected from Clenbuterol?
Answering the above question with a specific answer is almost impossible given the myriad of variables that will impact potential results, things such as gender, genetics, training, diet, dosage, cycle length, etc. Two people who are exactly the same height, weight, body fat percent, who do exactly the same type of training and eat exactly the same diet, could experience vastly different results! However, the more effort you put in, i.e., how much you train (and how you train) and how strict your diet is, will massively impact your end results.
Before we discuss what results can be expected, it’s important that we distinguish between fat loss and weight loss. The former is merely related to how much fat is ‘burnt’, whereas the latter refers to overall weight loss, i.e., fat, water, glycogen, muscle, etc. Over all weight loss from Clenbuterol is typically between three and five pounds per weeks, with around one to three pounds of the being pure fat loss. Of course, how much your training and how strict your diet is will impact how much overall weight and fat you’ll lose.
What dose of Clenbuterol should be used for maximal weight loss results?
The figures and

advise is to start slow and don't overdo it. Do your own due diligence, listen to your body and

Again, this is a difficult question to answer given the variables, but given that we know how much Clen the vast majority of people will need to take to see tangible results and how much is too much, we can answer it with greater accuracy. If you do any kind of research online, you’ll no doubt see doses of anything up to 120mcg per day. In our opinion, this is too much and will vastly increase the potential for serious side effects. Anywhere between 10mcg and 40mcg per day will give reasonable results while at the same time reducing the potential for side effects. Of course, everyone reacts differently to different compounds, so starting with a low dose to assess your tolerance is always a wise idea.
In terms of how long you should use it for, it’s important to remember that continuous use of Clenbuterol will result in your receptors becoming less sensitive to it; therefore, it’s crucial to not take it for extended periods of time (certainly no more than four weeks). Most people do two weeks on/two weeks off, or two days on/two days off.
Is Clenbuterol a Safe Weight Loss Drug?
It would be irresponsible of us not to advise you to consult a medical professional before starting your Clenbuterol cycle, so this is something we would definitely advise you to do. But putting that to one side, Clen a safe option for weight loss. It’s difficult to describe any prescription drug used outside of its medical purpose as ‘safe’, particularly one that’s side effects include increased heart rate, increased body temperature, anxiety, tremors, excessive sweating, etc. Although most people won’t suffer any serious side effects if used at sensible doses, those with heart conditions should undoubtedly avoid using drugs like Clenbuterol.
